I got tagged by *LIFEisMUSIC.

The rules:
1. post these rules
2. each person tagged must post 8 random facts about themselves
3. tags should write a journal of these facts
4. at the end post 8 more bloggers are tagged and named
5. go to their page and leave a comment telling them they're tagged

1. Music means everything to me. If I have my music with me, I feel home very fast.
2. My band is also a very important thing in my life. It's my ideal way of combining music and learning :-)
3. If I don't play music, I dance to it. Salsa is my favorite kind, I'm taking my third semester of lessons.
4. I have a weakness for design books and magazines. It really difficult to not buy anything when I see some of them
5. I still can't drive a car, don't know why...
6. Photography is my best way of communicating with the world. You can explain so much by one picture, the power is immense.
7. If I had the time and money, my first thing I would buy is a horse.
8. I hate bad food...

Woohoo! Today is my birthday
I'm finally 19, not that it's so different from being 18 :)

The real party is probably next week, because this week I got to much work for my portfolio. It has to be finished this monday, and they informed us 2 weeks ago. If you then know that the portfolio will count around 100 pages, you get the idea ;)
I'll probably put some designs in my scraps or perhaps in my gallery, so you can see how it looks.

Anyway, hope you guys have a nice holiday. Here in Belgium, today is the most pathetic day in the year, but for me, the best day =p

I'm off to work on my portfolio! :writersblock:
See you around,
Cas

Let art make the world a better place

Sun Sep 17, 2006, 2:17 PM
I've been surfing a lot lately, in search of cool brands and design companies. Just to get a bit of inspiration, and because it interests me.
That way a found a few very cool sites like [link] , an amazing flash-site. I also found a great essay about the difference between a designer and an artist: [link] . Next up, I found an online magazine [link] . They have an amazing cool design, an they feature a few very cool photographers.
But the best thing I found, were design companies that are using art to support certain well-fair companies. You've probably heard about the Million Dollar Homepage [link] . Well, 6 people came up with the idea to do the same thing for charity, and this is the result: [link] . Another similar project is The Bridge: [link] . This one is sponsored by big companies like Adobe and Quicksilver who will donate money to charity for each mile added. Everyone can add a mile with their own piece of art.
I think it's becoming much more of a trend. Thanks to the internet, small artist can help well-fair companies by supporting projects like this, and they also get notified. A few years ago, design-companies were located in big cities, in the center of it all. Today, you can pretty much be everywhere. Projects like those last 2 are a beautiful example of the advantages that that brings us.
Hope you like it, and if your fingers tingle to make a piece of art for these projects: don't hesitate. It's good for you, for the world and for your karma.
